Atherton Street // Residential Design

A warm, contemporary and deeply relaxing retreat was the brief for the master bedroom at Atherton Street.

Our clients were transforming a large downstairs area into a dedicated parents’ retreat, creating a space where they could escape the everyday demands of family life and unwind at the end of the day. The vision was to create a grown-up space that felt calm, considered and completely their own.

The oversized existing floor plan gave us the opportunity to completely rethink how the space could function. By reworking the layout and cleverly borrowing a little space from the existing laundry, we were able to create a generous master suite complete with bedroom, ensuite and walk in robe.

The design embraces a warm contemporary aesthetic, layering tones, natural textures and considered details to create a sense of calm and understated luxury.

To finish the transformation, the remaining laundry space was reworked into a European laundry that is both beautifully integrated and highly functional.

The result is a private parents’ retreat that feels warm, sophisticated and effortlessly relaxing, proving that thoughtful planning can completely transform the way a home works.
